Associate Professorship in Exoplanets or Galaxy Evolution

Applications are invited for a position at the Associate Professor level in the fields of Exoplanets or Galaxy Evolution within the Astrophysics Group at MSSL, UCL.
The successful applicant will be expected to pursue a vigorous research programme and to build MSSL/UCL capability and visibility in one of the above fields. We are looking for candidates with internationally leading research records. We are particularly interested in candidates who can maximise the scientific return from our substantial involvements in the PLATO, Gaia and Euclid satellite missions as well as that in the James Webb Space Telescope. The candidate will also fulfill a teaching responsibility at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
MSSL is the UK's largest university-based space research group delivering a broad, cutting-edge science programme, underpinned by a strong capability in space science instrumentation. Our scientific research ranges from cosmology and the study of extra-galactic objects, to studies of the Sun, the planets and their moons, and the Earth. Details can be found on www.ucl.ac.uk/mssl
The salary will be in the Associate Professor grade 9 range: £ 53,174 to £ 58,089, plus relocation benefits. The appointment grade will be commensurate with accomplishment and experience. The start date will be 1 May 2019 or as soon as possible after that.
