The box beneath the downloads states: "The Windows installer can be
downloaded and run directly. The Mac files can be decompressed using most
popular decompression utilities, such as the freeware Stuffit® Expander.
Once decompressed, each is an installer file which will install
HyperResearch and the components it needs for that platform onto your hard
drive."
What this means is that double-clicking on the Widows version will install
it for you.
For Macs you need to install some additional software first to expand the
file you've downloaded. One such free software is Stuffit Expander:

Then you need to install the files - there will probably be a file called
install or something similar.
