A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.

A position is available in the theory group of Prof. Ilya Averbukh at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel.
email – [log in to unmask] ,
website- http://www.weizmann.ac.il/chemphys/averbukh/

The initial appointment is for one year, to be renewed for up to two additional years.

THE PROJECT:
The project involves the study of the control of molecular rotation and orientation in space by ultrafast femtosecond laser pulses. It is a part of an ongoing theoretical-experimental collaboration of several groups in Israel, China, Canada and France (see attached a list of recent publications). Presently, we use laser pulses of different color, polarization and propagation direction for molecular spatiotemporal control, with the eventual goal of fixing the orientation of large molecules in space. Furthermore, we investigate the kinetics and dynamics of molecules in collisional environments via the recently discovered phenomenon of molecular alignment echo.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates must have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline. A background in the physics of laser interaction with atoms and molecules is needed. This position calls for excellent analytical and computational skills. The working language at the Weizmann Institute of Science is English. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who enjoy teamwork and multidisciplinary research.

ABOUT THE GROUP:
The Averbukh Group focuses on the study of Light-Matter Interactions, has introduced several key concepts and new directions over the years, and constantly provides theoretical support to many experimental groups. The group has a long record of intense international collaborations (beyond the current project) in Israel, France, Germany, Austria, USA, Canada, China and Japan.

BENEFITS:
The Weizmann Institute offers excellent fellowship conditions including travel allowance for conferences and professional training, participation in relocation expenses and housing. Information about the Weizmann postdoctoral program is can be found at
https://www.weizmann.ac.il/feinberg/fellowship-aid/postdoctoral-fellows .

Please submit your CV, list of publications and names of at least two people who are willing to recommend you and your work by email to Prof. Ilya Averbukh – [log in to unmask] .
