Just a friendly reminder:
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS IS AUGUST 20, 2008
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
2008 PetaMedia Workshop on Implicit, Human-Centered Tagging (HCT)
September 5, 2008 -- Queen Mary University London, London, UK
By this we would like to invite you to participate in the PetaMedia
Workshop on Implicit (Human-Centered) Tagging (HCT), to be held in
conjunction with the PetaMedia SIG3 "Indexing". The Workshop will take
place at QMUL, London, on Friday, 5 September.
The PetaMedia HCT workshop is aimed towards bringing together
scientists from a wider range of theoretical and application areas who
work on machine analysis of human behavior, human-centered computing,
and human factors in HCI, and their application to implicit multimedia
Its main goal is to discuss the state-of-the-art paradigms and
challenges in this entirely novel but very promising research area,
which has the potential to solve some of the inherent problems that
main stream indexing methodologies are unable to address.
Relevant topics for the workshop include but are by no means limited to:
* Human affect sensing and affect-sensitive adaptation of tags
* Gaze and Facial expression analysis and its applications to
* Speech and multimodal human behavior analysis and its
applications to multimedia indexing
* Brain-Computer Interfaces and their applications to multimedia
* Perceptual and multimodal user interfaces for multimedia
* Databases for training and testing
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND WORKSHOP PROGRAM
The program will be single track (including a poster session), ending
with a panel discussion.
If you would like to present your work and ideas on the PetaMedia HCT
Workshop, please send us an ABSTRACT of no more than 250 words.
The abstract should include, the title, the list of authors and their
affiliations, and a brief description of the area of your research and
how it is (or could be) applied to implicit multimedia indexing. The
latter is of crucial importance -- it is the main focus of the
PetaMedia HCT Workshop.
Please send your abstract to both Maja Pantic
<[log in to unmask]> and Alessandro Vinciarelli
<[log in to unmask]>.
Please note that the proceedings of the workshop will not be published
by a commercial publisher. However, they will be made available
All submitted abstracts will make a part of the PetaMedia HCT
proceedings. However, due to time and space constraints, only some of
the submitted abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at the
workshop. Authors of other works will be given the opportunity to
present their work during the poster session. All oral presentations
will be 20 minutes, followed by a 5 minutes discussion.
As soon as possible: Let us know if you would like to attend the
PetaMedia HCT workshop
(please do so by sending an e-mail to Naeem Ramzan
<[log in to unmask]>)
August 20, 2008: Deadline for abstract submission
August 25, 2008: Announcement of the final program
September 5, 2008: PetaMedia HCT Workshop
Best regards and hope to see you all in London in September.
