Dear Laura 
 
The EU directives and standards for Midwifery education should cover all the competencies for a midwife to work in any setting.  
In our research, however, we found that midwives could lack confidence because their physiological birth skills were not consolidated post qualification.  
 
I’ll be interest to hear whether and what local documents you find.
