medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Illustribus,
I'm just working through a bit of Tertullian and I see that he uses the noun "Sor" in reference to the prince of Tyre of Ez. 28. The Vulgate uses "Tyrus." I have not seen "Sor" before and have been unable to track the term down in the Orbis Latinus.
Is this just an idiosyncrasy of Tertullian or does the term have some currency in late antiquity?
Thanks,
Richard
