yes, i would suppose so --by that time (*later* 13th c.) the Bishop probably
wasn't called upon to assemble his _ost_ nearly so often as in earlier
centuries.
though, i *believe* that some 13th c. Vidames of Chartres (at least one of
them, in "knightly" garb, to be seen among the figures in the high windows of
the new cathedral?) might have taken part in various crusades, Outre-Mer and
in the Sunny South (wasn't it Bishop Reginald of Mouçon who was prominent in
the Albigensian Venture?).
and "honorific," but surely still carrying a substantial amount of property
with it, until the Revolution put an end to all that Hanky-Panky.
