medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thanks to M-R listers who had comments on this query, and I will
pursue those leads. I wonder, however, if an Irish Franciscan
friar assistant would be called "bishop of Canterbury"--bound to
irritate diocesan bishops and sensitive eminences like Wolsey.
Along this line, though, I wondered if the
archbishop/archdiocese of Canterbury might have had a special
(administrative?) relationship with the bishop/bishopric of
Rochester, just up the road.
