Apologies for the delay in introducing myself, but we're just at the
beginning of term.
I'm currently a member of the history department at the U. of Toronto.
My work on gender-power relations in the Middle Ages has involved much
research on medieval queens and queenship, in which the cult of the
Virgin as a paradigm for earthly queenship has (unexpectedly) taken a
preponderant role. I also deal with the political uses of the cults of
royal saints, esp. those adopted as patrons by royal houses, w/particular ref.
to Edward the Confessor (that's 13 Oct., George) in England.
