Hi Phillippa

We've just completed a migration project taking a group of Commanet archives
out of their original access databases and putting them online in
open-source software, so the groups can carry on working with them. Happy
to show you the results if you get in touch (it's still pre-launch).

The Commanet software used Access databases which were password-protected.
There was no export feature. Most of the groups don't know the password.
The only saving grace is that - in our experience so far - the passwords to
all the Access databases have been exactly the same - so I'm very keen to
find out if your own database has the same password too.

Hope that helps

Jack

Subject: [MCG] Comma - Community Archives

Hi all,

The Dean Heritage Centre used the Comma desktop software which was developed
and distributed by Commanet in the early 2000s. Commanet was a registered
charity which encouraged the set up and development of many local archives.
However Comma went into liquidation in 2009 and the comma website is no
longer online. This means that all archive material collected and stored
via the software is no longer easily accessible. I was just wondering if
any other museums or archives have used Comma and whether they were able to
access the information which was stored on Comma after Comma went into
liquidation?
Kind regards,
Phillippa
