This message is to confirm that the correct new draft versions of the
CILIP Royal Charter and Bye-laws have now been posted on the CILIP
website. Details below.
Once again my apologies for the confusion. Chris Armstrong
Repeat message:
Following some hard work on the part of the CILIP lawyers and Guy Daines
(not to mention the GiG!), draft versions of both the Royal Charter and
the CILIP Bye-laws have been developed to reflect the new governance
structure endorsed by Council in December 2006. These may now be found
at:
http://www.cilip.org.uk/aboutcilip/governance/governanceimplementation.h
tm
As is shown in the Timeline of Governance Events
(http://www.cilip.org.uk/aboutcilip/governance/governancetimeline.htm),
these must now be approved by Council before being sent to the Privy
Council for approval. In order to gain that approval in 2007, thus
enabling the new governance to become effective on 1st January 2008,
these documents will need to be sent to the Privy Council before the end
of April 2007.
If you wish to compare the proposed new versions with the current Royal
Charter and Bye-laws you can access these as follows: In the CILIP Year
Book (use a recent edition, 2006-2007 or 2005-2006), or on the CILIP
website at:
http://www.cilip.org.uk/aboutcilip/charterMissionGoals/charter.htm
http://www.cilip.org.uk/aboutcilip/howcilipworks/byelaws.htm
