The LACE Evidence Hub brings together evidence about learning analytics from all around the world and relates it to four propositions concerning learning, teaching, uptake and ethics. Everyone is welcome to add evidence for or against these propositions to the Hub site.

Evidence of the Month: Learning analytics meets measurement theory

This paper illustrated the promise of the combination of measurement theory and learning analytics for understanding effective MOOC learning. It reports findings from a study of whether and how MOOC log file data can assist in understanding how MOOC participants use (often) messy, chaotic forums to support complex, unpredictable, contingent learning processes.

Future of learning analytics – interviews with experts

LACE partners took the opportunity to interview a number of international experts in learning analytics - including Eric Duval, Sharon Slade, Dragan Gasevic, Paul Prinsloo, Alan Berg - during LAK15. The interviews revolved around two questions:

  • What barriers have the learning analytics community overcome in the last 3-5 years?

  • What is the future for learning analytics in the next five years?

Call for Datasets

At the recent LAK15 conference, the high demand to have an overview of available datasets for Learning Analytics research has become evident. Based on the discussions at LAk15, the LACE project created a Call for Dataset descriptions together with the Journal for Learning Analytics (JLA), which will be published in a Special Issue.
