Invitation: Drafts for Public Comment in Learning Analytics Interoperability and Data Sharing

The LACE team is creating a number of studies and releasing them as early-stage public drafts for comment. At this stage you are invited to collaborate on two active drafts: Audio and Video Playback; and Standards and Specifications Quick Reference Guide. Each draft has its own information page, indicating status and links to: an online-commentable version, a downloadable pdf, and a discussion thread on our Open Forum for Learning Analytics Interoperability Google Group.

Examining Open Learning Analytics

Probably the most obvious aspect of open in the context of learning analytics is the reuse of code (and documentation) that others have created. Predictive models can also of course be opened up to others. Having open APIs in learning analytics products is important too – as is interoperability of the different systems. And a vibrant community of people and institutions who wish to share and enhance all these things is essential.
