If you, or anyone else, does want to use Terracotta, just drop me a mail if you want my detailed setup notes and binaries. I've got the Shib IdP 2.3.8 running clustered using Terracotta 3.6.1 on CentOS 6 using tomcat 6.0 from RPM, and since I set up this new cluster (well over a year ago) it's worked flawlessly. I have no issue at all with this setup; it's rock solid.
