I thought this would be of interest to Hist-Nat-Hist list members.

Subject: UCL museums expert posts being destroyed
Members of the list may care to know that a UCL Culture restructure is looking to destroy expert posts and replace with low wage alternative posts requiring no content expertise.
These changes are being quietly pushed through in a 30 day consultation period (13 February 2018-13 March 2018) that coincides with national strike action by university staff. As a result these devastating changes have gone significantly unnoticed.
The Grant Museum of Zoology, Petrie Museum, and UCL Art Museum are incredible resources, not just for UCL but internationally.
It may be that members of the list showing this will not go unnoticed could still halt the full extent of these changes.
For further information please follow the link below. This link provides contact emails in case members of the list wish to express their opinion. It also provides original committee documents and a summary of the situation by Professor Joe Cain, STS Head of Department and UCL Professor of History and Philosophy of Biology.
