Please consider submitting an abstract to session S1 "Tectonics of faulting, folding and salt systems" at GeoMod2018 (Barcelona, Spain, 1-4 October 2018, http://www.ub.edu/geomod2018/index.html)
This session aims to discuss fold and fault development in different structural settings, encompassing rift systems, fold-and-thrust belts, inversion, and strike-slip settings, and will also focus on structures related to salt tectonics. We encourage studies at geological and shorter time-scales and specifically therefore also welcome studies related to seismo-tectonics and the earthquake cycle. We invite contributions from analog and numerical modelling studies conducted at different scales (local to regional) and contributions that give constraints to modelling studies or use their outputs for further idea development.
We hope for creative and interactive discussions during the session and are looking forward to your abstracts!
Conveners: Giacomo Corti (National Research Council of Italy), Susanne Buiter (Geological Survey of Norway), Guido Schreurs (Universität Bern, Switzerland)
Guest speaker: Michele Cooke (University of Massachusetts, USA): “Is the Earth Lazy? Tracking the efficiency of evolving and reorganizing fault systems”
The abstract submission deadline is 11 June 2018.
