Dear Gemmers,
I am currently undertaking research about how to further develop our educational offer and its relation to marketing strategy in order to make it as Curriculum friendly as possible. The MEAA has a diverse and wide range of educational activities for schools – including loan boxes, workshops, tours, handling sessions, outreach activities, partnership projects etc. However we often feel that, although we always inform teachers about the curriculum links (on newsletters, leaflets and information booklets) as well as offer tailor made sessions according to the teacher’s lesson plan, we do not always come across as an obvious first choice for a school visit, especially in a city like Bath.
As part of my research I am creating a survey for teachers, but I would also love to get the opinions, thought and ideas from other Museums that might be in a similar situation. I would especially like to hear from Museums whose collections are created around cultures and themes which are not that well-represented in the National Curriculum.
Many thanks,
Celia Dominguez
