Good morning,
Sedbergh school, Cumbria, would like to invite expressions of interest from 'Story Tellers' or freelance education workers to create a short program of story telling or activity sessions.
The school is hoping to restore a small two story building on a wooded area in the grounds. The building was once the summer house of a much larger property and is in area with evidence of Roman activity, cotton mills, close to the ruins of a large country house and in an agricultural area so plenty of scope for interesting stories.
Tied in with this project is funding to create activity sessions to be delivered to local community groups. One of the projects we had in mind was developing educational ‘story telling’ sessions (or perhaps several sets of sessions one for toddlers or perhaps nursery pupils and one for Key Stage 1 pupils (so aged 5 – 7), and perhaps one for key stage 2 pupils.
We are looking to employ someone who would prepare and lead several sessions and possibly also create resources for a class teacher or group leader to be able to lead their own sessions at the site. The idea is very much in it’s infancy at this stage and so whoever takes on the project would have a great deal of flexibility in being able to say what might be most useful to child development or most entertaining for the children and to frame the project themselves.
If you would be interested in working on this project or could recommend someone I'd be delighted to hear from you,
Best wishes
Katy Iliffe
