Nominations invited for the 6th ILIG International Award (2012)

ILIG is currently inviting nominations for the ILIG International Award for making a difference in libraries and information services outside the UK. The deadline for receipt of completed nominations is 30 April 2012 and any CILIP member may make a nomination.

This annual prize is awarded to a person, group or committee, which has made a real difference to a community through their work in library and information services in countries outside of the UK. The nominee will be or will have recently been working overseas in the library and information sector and the award will recognize an initiative that is either current or has been completed within the last year. Precedence will be given to those who have not already
received recognition for their work, e.g. by national organizations or publicity. Any person or group, except members of the current and immediate past ILIG Committees, is eligible. They may be of any nationality and need not be professionally trained librarians.

Previous winners include:

In 2011 there was no award

In 2010 ILIG made two International Awards. They were to Vimbai Hungwe for services to health information worldwide and to Jane Kinney Meyers for her work with the Luboto Library Project in Zambia. Please see http://tinyurl.com/iligaward/ for further details.

Mrs Jan Lewis for her work in prison libraries in Barbados. (2007)

Further details are available through www.cilip.org.uk/ilig/

The 2012 award will be made in June. There will be a cash prize of £100, plus one year's free subscription to Focus, ILIG's journal.
