Doctoral Researcher/University Assistant in Multidisciplinary Design & User Research

** Description **
The Multidisciplinary Design & User Research (MDUR, E 193-04) Group at the Insitute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology (TU Wien, Austria) is looking for a doctoral researcher/university assistant (30 hours/week) for two years. The position provides the opportunity for development and submission of a PhD thesis to TU Wien as well as involvement in research and teaching activities of the research unit.

** Qualifications **
We are looking for a candidate with a Master degree in computer science or in an area which is connected to people-technology-design disciplines (like HCI, user centered design, CSCW, design including software- and social science-related design methodologies, socially embedded computing, social informatics or similar areas).

- Profound knowledge of and interest in one or more of the following research areas, which are connected to design and the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), are required: tangible user interface design, interaction design, usability, assisted living technologies, social networks and communication through digital media, computer-supported collaboration, social impact of ICTs, organisational informatics, knowledge management, change management. 

- Knowledge and/or experience in carrying out qualitative empirical user studies
- Knowledge and/or experience in writing research project proposals, together with colleagues of the research unit
- Good communication and social skills for team work
- Very good in German and English 

In addition, you have:
- interest in empirical studies, practical design aspects, and theoretical-conceptual investigations
- interest in identification and writing of research questions and results as well as their presentation
- curiosity and enthusiasm for the areas described above 

** Terms of employment **
The appointment will be based on the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff. The period of employment is 24 months. The workplace will be TU Wien, Favoritenstrasse 9-11/193-04, A-1040 Vienna, Austria. The position is a 30 hours/week position for a pre-doc university assistant for two years, starting February 1st 2019. The monthly minimum salary is currently (in the collective agreement §49 (3) Pay Grade B1) EUR 2.096,60 gross (14 times/year).

Interface Design, Interaktionsdesign, Usability, Assisted Living
Technologies, Soziale Netzwerke und Kommunikation über digitale Medien, computerunterstützte Kollaboration, Social Impact of ICTs, Organizational Informatics, Knowledge Management, Change Management
- Kenntnisse und/oder Erfahrung in der Durchführung qualitativ-empirischer User-Studies
- Kenntnisse und/oder Erfahrung in der Erstellung von Forschungsanträgen
- gute kommunikative, soziale- und Teamkompetenz
- sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse

Zusätzlich erwünscht:
- Interesse an empirischer Forschung, praktischen Design-Aspekten und theoretisch-konzeptiver Auseinandersetzung
- Interesse an der schriftlichen Aufbereitung von Problemstellungen und Resultaten sowie deren Präsentation
- Neugier und Begeisterung für den o.a. Bereich

Die ausgeschriebene Stelle ist eine PräDoc-Stelle. Zu den Aufgaben des_der erfolgreichen Bewerbers_in zählt u.a. die Formulierung von Forschungsproblemen für Projektanträge in Zusammenarbeit mit den anderen Wissenschafter_innen des Forschungsbereichs (Forschungsprojekte etc.) einschließlich der Lehre ein. Die weiteren Aufgaben schließen die Mitwirkung an den Aktivitäten des Forschungsbereichs (Forschungsprojekte etc.) einschließlich der Lehre ein.
