First announcement:
The i3 Annual Conference 2000, Sept. 13-15, 2000, Joenkoeping (Sweden)
BUILDING TOMORROW TODAY:
Community, design and technology
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Building Tomorrow Today' will integrate key concepts and perspectives from
innovative computing technologies, from the design of interactive and
co-operative systems, and from research on communication and co-operation
in socio-technical systems.
The conference will be based upon the characteristics of the i3 research
community, and it will address the following issues:
- integrating physical and virtual information spaces;
- tangible artefacts and embedded interactive objects;
- ambient interactive computing (e.g. in "intelligent homes" or in
environments for leisure and play);
- connected communities (e.g. in neighbourhoods, around school
and home, within professional communities);
- innovative technologies supporting early learning.
The i3 way of 'Building Tomorrow Today' gives special importance to
symbioses of new technologies with innovative design, to social and
participatory approaches to systems engineering and to experiential and
action research.
Conference format and expected contributions
--------------------------------------------------------------
The conference programme will feature thematic sessions with
submitted and invited contributions, interactive performances and
workshops, invited plenary talks, panels, and an exhibition, garnished with
social events.
A call for submissions of papers and proposals for performances,
interactive workshops, and exhibits will be circulated by 31 January 2000
and posted on the conference web site, which can be accessed from http://
http://www.i3net.org/
Deadline for submissions will be 31 March 2000.
