I was under the impression this 75m buffer is a recently new innovation. The postcode data originally dates back from the 2002 report, and unless you already have the new digital dataset, that old document is probably the most precise thing we have to hand. The 1km grid squares are indicative thats all. If you need it down to postcode level, then just dig out the 2002 report.
Hopefully, it won't be long before the updated postcode data is published. (Don't see why you need a map?)

But it sounds like the post code report takes the highest reading within 75m
Which the HPA guys reckoned was as good as the £40 mapping report from bgs the snag is you get no map.

However the atlas only shows the highest radon potential in 1km grid
squares.
Is the 50% discount for individual site queries or for the complete
datasets for our area? Do BGS know we get a discount?
I just noticed that the introduction to the atlas says that the data on
which the mapping is based, summarised by administrative area and by
divisions of the post code system (as in the previous version) are
'given elsewhere'. Unfortunately the documents this refers to are 'to be
published'.

Our bc chaps have established the at the 3.50 radon report is accurate
to 75m so is quite a bit more usefull than just confirming if you are in
and effected grid square.
Also HPA inform us LA's get 50% discount...
