A quick email about two free British Psychological Society (BPS) events in London and some further info requesting submissions for the Community Psychology Festival in Hertfordshire. All these are open to the general public and non-members of the BPS.
1) “Putting Systems Thinking, Prevention and Social Justice at the Heart of Our Practice”: An Introduction to Community Psychology Using the Example of London's Unjust Housing System", London Event: Tuesday 19th June, Free.
This event is in partnership with community activists from housing estates under threat from 'regeneration' and with women residing in 'temporary accommodation'. We aim to launch a new campaign - come and join us and shape what we do next....
2) To mark World Refugee Day: BPS President's Taskforce on Refugees and Asylum-seekers launches BPS guidance on working with Refugees and Asylum-Seekers in the UK. London Event: Weds 20th June, daytime. Free.
The guidance contains Community Psychology ideas and the day will feature contributions from Refugee Community Organisations.
3) Community Psychology Festival - in September.
There is still a chance to submit proposals to contribute to this vibrant and diverse Festival - under the themes Play, Work, Power and Sustain. We would like as many people as possible to participate.
We will be providing bursaries for community members, activists and groups and those that can please help us do that by adding a 'pay forward' donation to your ticket. We have also kept the tickets as cheap as we can.
Click on the 'Programme' tab for more information on submissions and 'paying forward'.
Thanks everyone, happy Fridays and weekends to you all!
As always get in touch if you want to get involved, find out more etc.
Sally (Chair of the Community Psychology Section)
The list is jointly managed by David Fryer [log in to unmask] and Grant Jeffrey [log in to unmask], either of whom are able to deal with queries.
