Our partnership has just published a briefing paper, "Children and Young People's participation in policy-making: making it meaningful, effective and sustainable". The paper addresses challenges to such participation, from a Scottish perspective, as well as ways forward. It brings together learning from experiences in Scotland and elsewhere. A pdf version of the briefing can be found at http://www.crfr.ac.uk/reports/Participation%20briefing.pdf Please do feel free to share this as widely as you would like, in paper or electronic form.
The briefing arises from our current project, funded by the UK's Economic and Social Research Council, between the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships, Barnardo's and Children in Scotland. This project is seeking to assist Scotland's Children's Sector Forum in developing ways of involving children and young people in its policy-relevant work. Further information about the project can be found at http://www.crfr.ac.uk/researchprojects/rp_c&ypparticipation.html
