Subject: CALL FOR PAPERS: Island States/Island Territories Conference, Oranjestad, Aruba
Hello!
It's been a long time coming, but we are finally happy to announce that the co-host, location, and dates have been set for the conference:
Island States/Island Territories:
Sharing Stories of Island Life, Governance and Global Engagement
CO-HOST: University of Aruba<http://www.ua.aw/>
in association with
the Aruba Centre of Excellence (COE) for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS)<http://www.sustainablesids.org/>
LOCATION: Oranjestad, Aruba
DATES: March 26-29, 2019
The Call for Papers is similar to last year's, although we have added a new theme, in light of the effects of last year's disastrous hurricane season on the Caribbean's small islands. The theme:
How do the institutional structures on Small Island States and Territories
assist or limit the ability to meet
the UN Sustainable Development Goals?
Please see the attached Call for Papers in its entirety.
The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2018.
You will find the link to our Google docs submission form through our website:
http://projects.upei.ca/unescochair/call-for-papers/
Our Program Subcommittee will adjudicate submissions and get back to you with news of your acceptance by December 5. We would then ask you to register by January 15, 2019, at the early-bird rate (still be be determined), so we can start putting the program together.
We'll be populating the website with travel and accommodation information, keynote speakers, and a schedule of events over the coming weeks, and will open the registration site shortly.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. And please feel free to circulate this call widely.
We are very excited to be co-hosting this conference in Aruba next March. Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Laurie Brinklow
