Hi ALL,
I am running BYM model using WinBugs. My study unit is census tract,
total 496. But I have some census tracts (17) that have zero population
at risk (denominator). This means these areas will have zero expected
value and as the result they are creating a problem when I am running my
BYM model. I know that the reason is that the expected value should not
be zero when we compute SMR. But my question is that is there a way I
can remove these zero areas from my analysis. If it is possible, how can
I do this in winBugs, i.e., How can I indicate this in my model and data
(observed, expected, and adjacency matrix, and initial values)? For your
info, these zero areas are not missing data; it is just that they don’t
have the population at risk.
My second question for the same analysis, I have individual covariates
information that is taken from a case-control study. I want to
incorporate the individual covariates information into my analysis, but
I have no experience in this regard. I would appreciate if any one can
refer me to a similar works that previously done.
I really appreciate your help in advance
Thank you
Sam
