I passed along a similar route to that Jon proposes in recent years
but still much prefer self-publishing and having all the copies for
myself.
But that is paper publishing with its limited print runs and only
a few poems published per year. In the last year on the Web my space
had 117,989 hits of which over 18,000 were readings of poems. Even
reducing by a factor of 10 for serious readers I am still getting
through a few print runs a year. I havent had a poem in a magazine
for over a year but it does seem slightly irrelevant. I am not
writing poems seriously now the way I used to. I had a book published
in December. Next time I intend going back to self-publishing but
the time required to accumulate sufficient material means that that
could be a long long time away. In the meantime my poems to be selected
from are up on the Web for readers.
