Yes, it`s not often you come across a poet with an "interest in the
surface texture of language." Is it an "inability," Douglas? He
wants to "convey feeling" to you but can`t? Maybe he doesn`t want
to. Maybe an intense "interest in the surface texture of language"
interferes with the frictionless transfer of happy-sad signifieds
