Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work in the Health
Economic
and Decision Science (HEDS) section primarily providing support to a Medical
Research Council (MRC) funded research project dealing with Methods of
Extrapolating RCT (Randomised Controlled Trials) Evidence for Economic
Evaluation. The project is a collaboration between researchers at the
Universities of Sheffield, York and Leicester, and the MRC Biostatistics Unit,
Cambridge. The research will involve contributing to a review of the
scientific literature and NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical
Excellence) technology appraisals, critically appraising extrapolation methods
used within and outside of clinical trials, contributing to the development of
a taxonomy of extrapolation methods, and assessing the properties of different
methods by applying them to a variety of case studies.
You will work with senior health economists and statisticians during the
project, and will be involved in the dissemination of findings at scientific
conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should have a Masters
degree or equivalent in Statistics or in another highly numerate subject for
example, mathematics, operational research or economics.
This post is fixed-term until 31 August 2012, and is available immediately.
