Senior Medical Statistician

Applications are invited for a Senior Medical Statistician to join the
multidisciplinary MRC Health Services Research Collaboration (HSRC)
based in the Department of Social Medicine, University of Bristol.
Applicants should be experienced medical statisticians with a doctoral
degree and a strong background both in theoretical and applied
statistics. Applicants should have a track record in attracting
research funding and publishing in medical statistics and health or
health care related research.
The successful applicant will be expected (a) to lead the HSRC research
programme on methods in health services research (areas of particular
interest include cluster randomised trials, meta-analysis,
quasi-experimental designs and measurement of complex multidimensional
outcomes), (b) to collaborate with senior HSRC scientists in ongoing
and planned projects, including randomised controlled trial research,
large observational studies and meta-analysis, and (c) to continue to
develop their own research programme. The post holder will also
undertake postgraduate teaching and supervision. This position will be
a tenured MRC career scientist, with salary in MRC Band 2 (£28,000 to
£60,000). The starting salary is likely to be in the range of £28,000
to £40,000, depending on relevant qualifications and experience.
Relocation expenses of up to £7,000 will be available.
