A position is available at University College Cork, for a Postdoctoral
Research Fellow in Biostatistics with the ELDERMET project (
http://eldermet.ucc.ie). This position is at the interface between medical
epidemiology and microbial genomics and will examine diverse health outcomes
in a large cohort of elderly subjects using linked cross-sectional and
unique longitudinal measures. Statisticians with a background in medical
epidemiology who are interested in genetics, or a geneticist with a strong
quantitative background and interested in epidemiological analysis, or those
with strong experience in biostatistical / epidemiological analysis are
encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual with the
ability to work independently. They will be responsible for all statistical
tasks with a high level of independence, will be able to identify
methodological issues in need of customized solutions and independently
develop, evaluate and report statistical models as required. Applicants
should have a strong computational background. An understanding of biology
/ genomics would be an advantage.
This challenging and varied role is a full-time fixed term contract
appointment, initially for two years, on the CHIU Senior Postdoctoral salary
scale (point depending on experience).
