Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust (SUHT) and the University of Southampton have jointly been awarded two Biomedical Research Units in Respiratory Medicine and Nutrition, established to promote translational clinical research. Each BRU has a diverse range of research programmes developed by University and SUHT investigators, which require statistical expertise in their development and analysis. The postholders will be involved in a wide range of analytical and design issues and will be based within the University’s School of Medicine, liaising closely with an established medical statistics group led by Prof Janet Peacock. The posts will require a wide range of statistical knowledge relevant to clinical translational projects and will be part of a larger group that supports BRU activities including a data manager and wider support team. The postholders will be expected to participate in the development of new projects as part of the future development of BRU activities and develop their own research portfolio of activities within the general framework of BRU related research. The posts are funded until March 2012. Two positions are being filled and applicants wishing to work either full time or part time are encouraged to apply.
