Multilevel Modelling - 2 day course presented by Harvey Goldstein and George Leckie (University of Bristol) at the RSS in London.
This course is designed to give participants a solid grounding in the theory and application of multilevel models. The course will be based around theoretical sessions followed by “hands on” practical sessions illustrating the theoretical concepts. The hands on sessions will use the MLwiN software package.
Learning outcomes:
An appreciation of the implication of ignoring hierarchical and non-hierarchical data structures in statistical modelling
An understanding of multilevel models for various types of hierarchical structure.
Application of methods for two-level continuous and binary response data in MLWiN, and interpretation of the result
An understanding of the principles of modelling non-hierarchical structures, and handling missing data
Target audience:
Statisticians and quantitative researchers with an interest in the analysis of hierarchically structured data. The course will not assume a high level of statistical knowledge, but participants should be familiar with the application and interpretation of multiple linear and logistic regression analysis.
