ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOSTATISTICS

This is a great chance for a biostatistician to join a growing group and
develop a research program in one of several directions of growth being
undertaken by the University of Minnesota Division of Biostatistics. We
are especially interested in increasing our research and educational
activities in clinical trials, analysis of spatially referenced data, or
statistical genetics, but we strongly encourage applications from
excellent candidates regardless of areas of interest.

The Division of Biostatistics currently consists of some 20 graduate
faculty and over 60 other staff. Most are involved in major research
projects in AIDS, pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease, dental
research, cancer prevention and treatment, environmental and occupational
health, and health policy with multi-year grants totaling over
$105M.  Current methodological research includes clinical trials, analysis
of spatial and longitudinal data, Bayes and empirical Bayes methods,
survival analysis, meta-analysis, computer intensive methods such as MCMC,
and generalized linear models. The Division offers MS, MPH and PhD degrees
and collaborates in teaching and advising with the strong Minnesota
Departments of Theoretical and Applied Statistics. The successful
candidate will be expected to play an active part in methodological
research and collaboration in public health and biomedical research as
well as teach and advise at the graduate level.

The salary for this non-tenure track position will be very competitive and
the University of Minnesota offers excellent fringe benefits. Applications

in biostatistics, statistics or a related field prior to completion, and
