PhD studentships, University of Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research
Leeds University Institute of Clinical Trials Research Unit (LICTR) is an NCRI accredited and UKCRC registered Clinical Trials Unit. The CTRU is regarded as an impressive and inspirational trials unit by NIHR NETSCC, providing the experience, expertise and infrastructure necessary for the promotion and conduct of high quality randomised clinical trials, underpinned by methodological research. The CTRU is one of the largest in the UK with approximately 180 staff, including around 30 statisticians working on 100+ projects. Staff and students participate in an active programme of seminars, a journal club and joint research meetings with the Academic Unit of Health Economics. A weekly methodology discussion group provides impetus for development of methodological work.
The CTRU has funding for 2 full time studentships over 3 years. Funding includes UK post-graduate fees, a stipend of £14,057pa, and a training and conference budget of £2,000pa. Applicants should have a BSc honours degree, class 2.1 or above, in mathematics, statistics or a related discipline with a high quantitative content, and ideally an MSc in a relevant subject. Non-EU students are welcome to apply but must be able pay overseas student fees themselves . Statistical and project-specific training will be augmented by attendance at appropriate APTS courses in the first year. Students will be based at the LICTR.
