A community of researchers, educators and practitioners from institutions based all over Midlands that are primarily concerned with cinema and the moving image. - It is designed to offer a way of advertising local events, publishing important news, sharing resources and encouraging involvement in the generation of high level research. - It can be used to spread the word about what is happening in the area of film in the Midlands and also to archive the large body of excellent work that goes on. The MFRN consists of a JISC distribution list, a monthly newsletter, a twice yearly peer reviewed journal and a website archive where teachers and researchers can upload finished work and work in progress. Who is the Midlands Film Research Network for? - Initially, the MFRN is aimed at teachers, filmmakers and researchers at Sixth form and Further Education colleges (Years 12 and 13). - Invitations will also extend to local interest groups and production companies, offering a hub of vital information for all those who are part of the community. - There are plans to extend the scheme to Universities, eventually covering all of the major institutions of film research in the area. |
