With this maillist we will announce the Social Science Graduate Research in
Progress Seminars (GRIPS) at the University of Oxford, hosted by the
Department of Sociology. Related discussion welcome, too!
The Social Science graduate research in progress seminar series (GRIPS), hosted at the Department of Sociology, University of Oxford, is run by Elina Kilpi and Silke Schneider, both DPhil students at the Department of Sociology. It started successfully in Hilary term 2007 with 12 presentations around the theme of ethnicity. For Trinity term, there are 8 weekly sessions with altogether 17 presentations themed around education.
We would like to encourage interdisciplinarity and welcome students from any department working on a topic related to the respective theme. We would also like to stress that these seminars are intended to be informal and a place for graduate students to practise their presentation skills, present their work and discuss their ideas, whatever the stage of their research.
