All the 'action' was caught on CCTV. I'm not sure any convictions were made but the story was of the type "imagine how bad life would be without these cameras". The point seemed to go straight over the journalists head that no crime was actually prevented, the poor lad still got battered. Further into the paper was an editorial column, part of which was opinion on this cover story. It ended with a phrase something along the lines of.. "Big Brother is watching, and we're glad".
