Dear fellow grads and researchers, I am happy to inform you of the publication of Educational Insights, 5(1), which you can read for free at http://www.csci.educ.ubc.ca/publication/insights/. Thanks to those who have contributed writings in the past year to the journal and those who have volunteered as referees. Educational Insights (EI) is once again inviting contributions of articles and book reviews to be considered for publication in the next issue. In the following you will find the guidelines for contributions. *Please note that EI accepts to equally consider contributions from those who have received their degrees but are reporting on research which was conducted as part of a graduate degree program. Jim Hu Editor EDUCATIONAL INSIGHTS http://www.csci.educ.ubc.ca/publication/insights/ A peer-reviewed electronic journal of graduate student research, published by the Centre for the Study of Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, the University of British Columbia. Contribution Guidelines Educational Insights is a refereed journal dedicated to providing graduate students a forum for publishing their research in education. The journal welcomes papers that offer original, thought-provoking, and imaginative explorations of curriculum theory and practice. It encourages a wide range of voices, perspectives, positions, and approaches that enlarge our understanding of the educational process. Guidelines for Articles 1. Content: The journal seeks articles that are of interest to teacher educators, graduate students in education, and practising teachers. Articles may represent perspectives from one or all three groups. It is particularly important that research is discussed in terms of its implications for practice. 2. Length and Format: Contributed articles are limited to 3,000 words with an additional abstract of not more than 150 words. The format generally conforms to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fourth Edition). To facilitate online publishing, endnotes are used instead of footnotes. 3. Editorial Process: Article contributions will be initially checked by the editor. Those that meet the basic requirements will be sent out for blind review by one graduate student and one faculty member with interests in the areas concerned. Reviewed articles may be returned to the author for revision, along with the reviewers' suggestions and recommendations. Articles recommended for acceptance by the reviewers will be published only after final approval of the Editorial Board. Guidelines for Book Reviews The journal welcomes reviews of recently published books on a wide range of issues related to education or educational research methodology. Authors can contribute reviews of books selected on their own or recommended by the editor. Reviews should be within 600-800 words and are read by members of the Editorial Board for consideration of publication. Contribution and Correspondence Manuscripts should be submitted single-spaced in an e-mail attachment in Word for Windows to Jim Hu, Editor, at: [log in to unmask] Editorial correspondence can be directed to Jim Hu and technical inquiries to Henry Kang, the journal web master, at: [log in to unmask] %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
