Hello all, I am a doctoral candidate at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio. I am in an early stage of dissertation research, meaning that I haven't got my approach nailed down yet! My subject is Bern, abbot of Reichenau in the first half of the 11th century. I am in musicology, so I first became acquainted with Bern as the author of a music treatise and tonary, but soon discovered that he also wrote other things -- liturgical treatises, hymns, sequences, tropes, at least one life of a saint, letters, etc. I'm especially interested in the liturgical writings, since my master's thesis was on musical/liturgical developments in the Catholic Church after Vatican II.
