Andy Cumbers DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT Required to work on an ESRC funded project ‘Innovation, Local Learning and Competitive Advantage among SMEs in the Aberdeen Oil Complex’. The project will investigate the relationships between geographical clustering, collective learning and innovation among small and medium sized firms, with a view to assessing the future development and sustainability of the complex. The applicant should have or be completing a PhD in Human Geography, Economics, Economic Sociology, Business Studies or a related discipline, preferably with experience of conducting questionnaire surveys and undertaking qualitative interviews. The post-holder will work as part of the research team on all aspects of the project with particular emphasis upon the management and design of a questionnaire survey, the undertaking of interviews and involvement in the analysis and writing-up of the results. The post is for a period of twelve months starting on1 January 2000, on Grade RA1A (£17,570).
