One of my interests pertains to the Order of St John of Jerusalem, but
really only in the late fifteenth to sixteenth centuries (i.e. dubious
medievality), by which time it had moved (or been moved) spiritually a long way
from its initial remit. What I am particularly interested in hearing about
is empirical evidence of the non-British Langues' attitudes to their
religious vows. Early evidence of the British Langue's attitude would also
be of interest. Empirical is the word!
Is anyone on this list there actively interested in this or does anyone
know of a better forum for such matters?
I only found out today that Wynken de Worde published a version of the
Koran c. 1519.
