SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT INFORMATION CENTRE TEMPORARY CATALOGUER

The Scottish Parliament Information Centre is looking for an experienced
temporary cataloguer, starting as soon as possible, to help get material on
to our catalogue before this is networked to the Parliament.  Applicants
should be qualified librarians or have sufficient relevant experience.
Applicants without professional qualifications must have 5 SCE passes, 3 at
Higher level, 1 of which should be English.

Applicants will need:

*	full working knowledge of the AACR2 cataloguing rules to the full
level
*	full working knowledge of MARC cataloguing, preferably USMARC
*	full working knowledge of online cataloguing, preferably the Horizon
system.

*	knowledge of classification, preferably UDC or Dewey, would be an
advantage.

The appointment is for 4-6 months part time, or 2-3 months full time. Hours
can be arranged flexibly within fixed bandwidths of 7.30am - 7.30pm from
Monday-Friday. Salary will be £12,111 pro rata. There is an annual leave
allowance of 2 days a month. Prior to appointment recruitment checks will be
carried out including security.

The post will be located in Parliament Headquarters on George IV Bridge,
Edinburgh.
