There seems an interesting difference, based on my observations, to 'public' versus 'private' postings in relation to the list. I've been immensely impressed on several occasions by the intelligent, supportive and helpfully critical comments that people have made privately to me, when I've posted a general enquiry. Maybe we're seeing a replication of the public/private space division?
