Dear learned members, I hoping someone might be able to help me find out the identity of a source quoted in a 15th-c. French manuscript, Ms Douce 134. The passage is attributed to a writer I can't find. The Latin passage reads: Dit papias super verbo auernus. And the French following those words describes a place, near Champaign, where there is a hole through which one descends into hell. And from this hole comes out a great stench which is so bad that the birds cannot fly about it. Any help will be most appreciated!! All the best, Marijim Thoene %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
