Ron asks about the host's journey. The ASC says only that 'the raiding army rode
across Mercia', so I suppose a first stage from York by river is plausible. But
why debouch at Burton-on-Stather when the Trent was navigable at least as far as
Repton? (Sorry, that's not a Med-Rel issue...)
