Gil Hardwick, Centre for Irish Studies, Murdoch University. I am carrying out doctoral research on the Irish/Celtic settlement of the lower South West of Western Australia. My interest in this list is to attract discussion of the precursors to contemporary Irish 'ethnic' identity in Australia. In particular I am interested in the specific Catholic movements taking root in Ireland which may not have done so in France or Spain, for example, as well as Huguenots, Presbyterians and other intellectual, noncomformist or dissident movements finding refuge in Ireland not until very recently deemed 'Protestant'.
