If you use the online version of the *Verzeichnis Lieferbarer Buecher*, you probably noticed the service was unavailable for a couple of weeks recently (they botched an upgrade). They're still the best place to start if you want full details on current books in print (e.g. for library ordering): http://www.vlb.de/ or http://www.buchhandel.de/ (then go to 'Datenbanken'). The homepage also has a link to a long list of online bookshops from which you can order anything in the catalogue.
