A fool I may be, but I am very definitely not > confusing art historical analysis with those > art surveys that appear on the shelves of school libraries. Having just read a paper at the British Associations of Art Historians annual conference (in a session called the `Problems of Periodisation') I am very aware of the way in which art historians, be they like Gombrich or TJ Clarke, bolster a eurocentric history of art.
