CORE STABILITY-part one

The National Sports Medicine Institute of the United Kingdom (NSMI) is a
registered medical charity that works in partnership with the Osteopathic
Sports Care Association (OSCA) to provide a series of one day post
registration Advanced Sports Care courses for all NHS approved health care
professionals.

The Core Stability course provides a special opportunity for you to learn
essential skills which will benefit numerous patients, especially those with
chronic or recurrent low back pain.  Core Stability is the control of the
abdominal muscles and their interaction with the surrounding muscles in the
trunk and lower extremities.  The aim is to reduce injury and enhance
athletic performance by having balance and control of the musculo-skeletal
system.

The course is mainly practical and workshops provide demonstrations of tests
for trunk and pelvic stability, pattern of recruitment and exercise
prescription. Lectures include an introduction to the basic principles and
theoretical foundations of core stability and anatomy review.

The sessions are being given by Mark Buckingham who is a Chartered
Physiotherapist.  Mark works with UK Athletics as a team physiotherapist and
is responsible for the Core Stability screening programme for the England
Rugby Team.

OSCA member	£65.00
Non OSCA member £90.00
(Fee includes morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and lecturer
handbook)
